If you have questions about Luminary Works, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Some frequently asked questions (FAQs) and answers are included below for your convenience.
Q. What languages do you support?
A. I perform and deliver all projects in American English (my native language—and my only language).
Q. What if I have concerns about confidentiality?
A. With my involvement in my own family’s privately-held business, I understand your concerns. If you would like me to sign a non-disclosure agreement, that will not be a problem. Please let me know as soon as possible if you need me to sign your NDA.
I will not discuss your project or share your materials (taped interviews, transcripts, notes, research materials, drafts, final versions, etc.) with others without discussing it with you first. Furthermore, I will not include anything related to your project in my portfolio or list you as a client on my website or other marketing materials without your written consent. You (and each client I work with) will benefit from this atmosphere of trust that helps to safeguard your business—and your competitive advantage.
In addition, technology security is a top priority for me. I follow best practices regarding password strength and regular changes, encrypted local hard drive storage, encrypted cloud/backup storage, two-factor authentication methods, etc.
If you would like to know more about any particular area, please contact me.
Q. What is your typical turnaround time?
A. Well, it depends. Projects such as a 500-word blog post can be proofread or copyedited usually same day or next day. Lengthier projects may take longer. Let’s discuss your project and timeframe to see if my skills will be a good match and to ensure I can complete your project on time in addition to my other client commitments.
Q. Are there projects that Luminary Works is not well suited for?
A. Yes. While I have written and edited for press releases and social media, these niches are not my passion. I typically refer these projects to qualified professionals in my network who thrive on these specialty areas. The same goes for newspaper journalism. I also do not proofread résumés.
Q. How do you invoice?
A. For one-time projects, I invoice at their completion. For larger projects, especially with new clients, I may break up the project estimate into phases. We can also set up a monthly retainer relationship for ongoing project work. Invoices are sent via email.
Q. What are your payment terms, and what forms of payment do you accept?
A. Unless otherwise agreed upon, payment terms are Net 30 after receipt of the invoice. Payment forms include check or online with a credit or debit card. If you pay online, you will not be charged an additional processing/handling fee.
